Liverpool will for the first time host the start of one of the Tall Ships Races. The event has taken place on the River Mersey in 1984 and 1992 but this will be the first time Liverpool has hosted the start of a Race and all the fleet will be berthed on the Liverpool side of the River. It is expected that this event will attract over half a million visitors to the city over four days.
